CASEing the Catty CTC#133

I’m participating in another CASEing the Catty challenge and with a new catalogue there is so much new and wonderful examples to case. The week the challenge is focusing on the Love & Sympathy section of the 2017-2018 Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue, pages 86 to 101.

My inspiration for this challenge is the box on the bottom right hand corner of page 86. I decided to use the layout of the box and recreate it as a card.

To CASE this project, I had to completely improvise  every element of the design, with the exception of the vellum banner and gold mini sequins, as I currently own none of the other products used in the catalogue example.

I created the background paper from black card stock and used a circle stamp from the Work of Art stamp set with VersaMark ink, which was then heat embossed with white embossing powder.  My substitution for Pool Party ribbon was to use a strip of Pool Party card stock separating the layers so that I was softer. This wasn’t entirely necessary but I like the suede-effect that separating the card stock gives. The black sequins in the catalogue example were replaced with black metallic thread. The gold library clip was replaced with a gold binder clip. The remaining elements to the banner on the a are stamps from various stamps set to get a similar image: The leaves (Floursing Phrases),  the flower (Flower shop), the heart and sentiment (Wood Words).

Thanks for dropping by.  If you want to check out the blog hop or other challenge submissions check out the Facebook group by clicking on the thumbnail on the right hand side column.
