Colour INKspiration #28 blog hop

I’m fortunate to be participating in another Colour INKspiration Facebook group Design Crew blog hop as a guest designer for the CI 28 challenge.

So what are the colours for this challenge? They are: Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sugar Plum, and Lemon Lime Twist.

For this blog hop project,  I decided that would incorporate the challenge colours by using ink only.  The only card stock that I have used is thick Whisper White and Shimmer White card.

I have wanted to make a transparent front card for a long time. I know that I have had d a least a couple of examples pinned on Pinterest for a long time. I have used inspiration from a several card examples I have found on Pinterest to make this card.

I started with a card base of thick Whisper White card stock. I cut the front of the card so that I could later insert a piece of window sheet.  I started out by sponging clouds on the front and the inside of the card with Bermuda Bay ink.  I created some sponging templates by cutting out the several of the cloud shapes from the Up & Away thinlets, then arranging the cuts out to create interesting cloud shapes.  I the attached the window sheet to the card.  I used a piece of the Whisper White card stock from that I cut previously from the card base that I sponged it with Soft Suede ink before I attached it to the bottom edge of the card front.

The final things to make was the decorative elements for the card.  I started by stamping two birds using the Best Birds stamp set, on Shimmer White card stock with Basic Gray ink.  I then water coloured the birds with Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay ink with an aqua painter. I cut the birds out using the matching Birds & Blooms thinlits.  I then cut out several flowers of different sizes with the retired Botanical Builder framelits out of Shimmer white card stock.  These are my favourite framelits to create flowers so I like to use them now and again.  I finished the flowers off by sponging them with Sweet Sugar Plum ink and using glitter enamel dots for the centres. I used a combination of fast fuse, dimensionals and mini glue dots to adhere the flowers and birds to the card front.

Used in this project:

Paper: Whisper White, Shimmer White, Window Sheet

Ink: Soft Suede, Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sugar Plum, Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Gray

Stamps: Best Birds
