Colour INKspiration #49 blog hop

Welcome to the first Colour INKspriation blog hop for 2019.   I’ve been taking a break from crafting, so I haven’t been updating the blog but now I’m back and it just so happens to be a Colour INKspiration blog hop. So you may have started here or you may have hopped over to my page from Erin Gunson’s page.

The colours for this challenge are: Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana, Pineapple Punch and Highland Heather.  You can also add any of the basic colours (Basic Black, Whisper White and Very Vanilla) and metallics to your projects

When I made the projects for this challenge, we were in the middle of a very hot summer with wave after wave of heat waves with the temperatures well over 35 Celcius every day.  The order of the day when it is hot like this is ice creams and icy poles. So naturally I leaned towards a project using the sweet cups from the new Occassions catalogue from Stampin’ Up!  They remind me so much of the small ice cream cups that we use to buy from the corner shop when I was a kid.

I decided to use some retired Sale-a-bration DSP (designer series paper), the Irresistibly Yours specialty DSP which was one of the free items you could choose during Sale-a-bration a few years ago. I used Melon Mambo and Highland Heather ink to colour the DSP. For the lid I matted the DSP with some Melon Mambo Card stock. To add some add pizzazz to the lid, I stamped and fussy cut out the larger flowers from the Lovely Lattice stamp set.  I stamped the flower stamp multiple times so that I could layer the flowers and coloured the flower with Pineapple Punch Stampin’ Blends.  There are four layers on the main flower. To add Coastal Cabana to the project I used some Coastal Cabana/Granny Apple Green revesible ribbon around the rim of the lid.  I then thought that the cup was too plain compared to the lid, so I stamped some smaller flower and added them to the cup.

I then made a matching card.  The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set and is stamp in Highland Heather ink.

Used in these project:

Paper: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Irresistibly Yours specialty DSP

Ink: Momento, Melon Mambo, Highland Heather, Pineapple Punch Stampin’ Blends

Stamps: Lovely Lattice, Itty Bitty Birthday

Bigshot tools: Stitched Labels framelits, Layering Circles framelits

Accessories: self adhesive sequins (retired), Coastal Cabana/Granny Apple Green reversible ribbon

Thanks for visiting my blog. Now it is time to hop over to see what Jan Clothier has made.

  1. Cathy that’s lovely colouring for your background, and yes icecream cups were such a treat.Hope it’s a bit cooler for you now- feels like it’s just heating up again here. Welcome to the CI Crew, we’re glad to have you with us

  2. That was great paper. Shame it retired. Love the way you’ve got an ombre effect going along the stripes. It’s kind of like a rainbow candy cane.

  3. Welcome! Love the sponging on the DSP and the change in colours. Very sweet. Great project with these colours. Yum!
