I want to show you a card we made in class recently. I taught my students how to make a peek-a-boo slider card. If you have never heard of this type of card, this card as a hole in the front of the card that shows an image or sentiment through the hole. When you open the card another image slides into place.
Normally I usually a create a main panel and then stick it to the card base, leaving the last little embellishment to finish off the card to last. For this project I did things the other way around, creating the card base, then decorating the card. Most of the tutorials for this card are made with the US letter size card stock. I had to adjust the measurements so that the finished card would be A6 size and would fit into a standard sized envelope. I constructed the card base and mechanism using Granny Apple Green and thick Whisper White card stock.
I decided to use a sentiment panel and an image for the peekaboo effect. I used stamps from the Amazing Life and Itty Bitty Greetings stamped with Balmy Blue and Highland Heather ink for the sentiment Panel. I used stamps from the Best Bunny and Amazing Life stamp sets to create the image panel. I coloured the bunny and flowers with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.
The front of the card was decorated starting with a panel where I stamped the Buffalo Check background stamp with Highland Heather ink on to Whisper White card stock. I coloured a piece of retired white ribbon with a Balmy Blue blends marker and attached it to the Buffalo check panel, which was attached to the card front. I used the Layering Circle framelits to cut green glimmer paper to decorate the punched hole. I spray some water colour paper with water and then applied Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green ink to the water colour paper with an aqua painter. Once this was dry, I used the Butterfly Beauty thinlits cut some butterfly then attached the card front. I added some bling with some retired sequins.
