Colour INKspiration #55 blog hop

Welcome to another Colour INKspriation blog hop. You may have started here or you may have hopped over to my page from Elizabeth Gross’ page. This challenge has 6 colours and you have to use 3 or more of the challenge colours.

The colours for this challenge are: Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo, Lemon Lime Twist, Grapefruit Grove, Rich Razzleberry and Smoky Slate. You can also add any of the basic colours (Basic Black, Whisper White and Very Vanilla) and metallics to your projects.

I has to say that I thought for some time about how I was going to incorporate all 6 colours into this project. One way I know to use a few colours in a project is to use a brayer and create an ombré background.  This is what I did for this background on this card. I used a brayer to apply Flirty Flamingo, Grapefruit Grove, and Rich Razzleberry ink to a piece of Whisper White card stock. I sponged the edges with Rich Razzleberry ink for some added depth.  I matted the background panel on Lemon Lime Twist card stock and attached it to a Rich Razzleberry card base.

Now for the details of the card. I used the Rectangle Stitched dies to make a frame out of Basic Black card stock.  As a new Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue is starting in June, I’m trying to incorporate products that are retiring into my projects as much as possible. So in this project I’ve used the Best Birds stamp set.  I stamped the bird in Momento ink and coloured it with Rich Razzleberry and Smoky Slate blends.  The birds stomach was coloured using a long retired Blendability in Coastal Cabana. I use the new Magnolia Memories dies from the new upcoming annual catalogue to create the flower and leaves.  I added some Lemon Lime Twist ink with and aqua painter to the centre of the magnolia and added a faceted gem.

The sentiment comes from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set and has been stamped in VersaMark ink on to Rich Razzelberry card stock, then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I put stitching details on the edge of the sentiment label with a die from the Stitched Labels dies.   A bit of bling was added to the card with some retired Lemon Lime Twist sequins.

Used in this project:

Paper: Lemon Lime Twist, Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black, Whisper White,

  1. I totally love your rich, inky background. I think I’ll have to befriend my brayer not!

  2. Ooh. The background is stunning. And I loooove the little bird! What a glorious card that shows off the colours to perfection.
