Colour INKspiration #72

Welcome to Colour INKspriation #72.  Colour INKspiration is a challenge group on Facebook that sets a colour challenge approximately every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month using Stampin’ Up! colours. Inspiration pictures are from Pinterest.  As a design team member, we make cards to inspire people in the challenge.

The colours for this challenge are: Bermuda Bay, Grapefruit Grove, Pretty Peacock and Calypso Coral. You may add Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Crumb Cake and metallics to your project. We also allow ‘Ivory’ and ‘Bronze’ in the Stampin’ Blends. If you don’t have all the colour palette, feel free to use the closest SU substitute.

I thought about this colour palette for quite a while.  To me it just screams ocean or the sea but as much as I love ocean or sea themes, I wanted to do something different. And yes this card is a floral card, very much in keeping with floral themes that I seem to be using in my projects recently. I used stamps from the Painted Poppies stamp set to create the main panel of my card.  After stamping the poppies twice with Momento ink, I coloured the panel using the splotch/splatter stamps from the Painted Poppies stamp set.  I used Grapefruit Grove and Calypso Coral at full strenght but stamped off two or three times when stamping Bermuda Bay and Pretty Peacock. The sentiment is from the Happy Birthday to You stamp set.
I mounted the main panel onto a piece of Springtime Foil specialty DSP (designer series paper) which I had coloured with Bermuda Bay and Pretty Peacock ink using a sponge brayer.  The copper foiling on this DSP sets of the main panel nicely.   My aim is to use ribbon and embellishments in more of my of my projects so I raided my stash to find something that works with this colour scheme.

Used in this project:

Paper:  Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Springtime Foil specialty DSP (retired Sale-a-bration)

Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Bermuda Bay, Grapefruit Grove, Pretty Peacock, Calypso Coral

Stamps: Happy Birthday to You, Painted Poppies

Tools: sponge brayer

Embellishments: ribbon (retired), glitter enamel dot.
