Colour INKspiration #70 blog hop

Welcome to first Colour INKspriation blog hop of 2020. Colour INKspiration is a challenge group on Facebook that sets a colour challenge approximately every two weeks using Stampin’ Up! colours. Today’s Colour INKspiration challenge is a  little different from the normal format of the challenges. Normally you are given a set group of colours but in this challenge you can pick 3 of your favourite Stampin’ Up! colours.  For this challenge, I have chosen: Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana. You may add Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Crumb Cake and metallics to your project. We also allow ‘Ivory’ and ‘Bronze’ in the Stampin’ Blends. If you don’t have all the colour palette, feel free to use the closest SU substitute.

As well as getting to chose what colours I want to use, the theme for this challenge is Birthdays.  For that reason I have decided to use the 2020 Sale-a-bration (SAB) stamp set, Happy Birthday to You, which you can get for free when you spend a minimum of $90 AUD on Stampin’ Up! products.

For my first card,  I started out with a thick Whisper White card base.  I gave the front of the card base a wash of Coastal Cabana ink with an aqua painter. On separate piece of card stock, I stamped the cake image in Memento ink. The cake and flowers have been coloured using blends markers. I then fussy cut out the cake and attached it to the card base with dimensionals. The sentiment also comes from the Happy Birthday to You stamp set and is stamped in Coastal Cabana ink and cut out with the Stitched Rectangle dies.  Some glitter enamel dots have been used for additional embellishment.

I decided to recreate the card but step it up a bit in the second version, with more layers and a different colouring method.  This time I have used a water colour method that I saw in a Youtube video by Australian independent Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, Alisa Tilsner.  I’ve used the same challenge colours,  but water colour give a softer effect.
