Colour INKspiration #48 blog hop

For those that celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas. For those that don’t, Happy Holidays.

I have good news.  I am now a member to the Facebook group Colour INKspiration design crew.   That means instead of participating in the challenge I will be regularly participating in the design crew blog hop.  Even though I don’t officially start on the crew until 2019, I am participating in the blog hop for challenge CI48. So on with the blog hop post.  You may have hopped over to my page from Nicole Wilson’s page.

The colours for this challenge are: Tranquil Tide, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride.  You can also add any of the basic colours (Basic Black, Whisper White and Very Vanilla) and metallics to your projects

I wanted to do a project with some of my new stamps from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Occassions catalogue, but try as I might to come up with something using new stamps with this colour combination, I kept coming back to the Sea of Textures stamp set and the Under the Sea framelits bundle.  I bought this bundle earlier in the year but I hadn’t used them until this project.

Although this card looks like it took ages to make, it really didn’t. I started with a panel of Whisper White card stock that I applied Bermuda Bay ink with a sponge brayer.  I masked areas to create light and shadows for an underwater scene. I sponged Bermuda Bay and Tranquil Tide. I used some of the stamps from the Sea of Textures stamp set using Tranquil Tide ink that I stamped off before stamping on my panel. I used one of the Under the Sea framelits I cut out the fish on the panel. Blushing Bride card stock was added behind the panel so the fish stood out more. I cut sea grass, coral and a sand dollar out of Tranquil Tide, Calypso Coral, and Blushing Bride card stock, respectively. The octopus was stamped in Calypso Coral ink. I coloured the sucker side of the tentacles with a Blushing Bride marker.  I added small details to the sand, sand dollar and coral with a Bermuda Bay marker and a white gel pen.

The base of this card is one of the sliver foil-edged note cards from the holiday catalogue.  Both the gold foil and silver foil edged note cards and envelopes have carried over.  Even though these note cards are perfect for Christmas, they can also be used for other occassions. The sliver foil-edged note card makes a perfect card base for the main panel I’ve created.    The last embellishment I added was some retired clear epoxy shapes.

Used in this project:

Paper: Whisper White, Powder Pink, Calypso Coral, Tranquil Tide, sliver foil-edged note cards & envelope

Ink: Tranquil Tide, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride

Stamps: Sea of Textures

Bigshot tools: Under the Sea framelits,

Accessories: clear epoxy shapes (retired), white gel pen

Thanks for visiting my blog. Now it is time to hop over to see what our guest designer, Shirley Jones has made.
